Postpartum boudoir: reclaiming your body (and yourself) after having a baby

Nobody warns you about the strange relationship you'll have with your body after having a baby. You grew an entire human. That's extraordinary. And yet somehow the dominant cultural message is: now shrink back. Fix yourself. Get your body back.

We'd like to offer a different message entirely.

Your body didn't fail you — it transformed

The softness, the stretch marks, the way things feel different now — none of that is a problem to be solved. It's a story. And it's one worth celebrating, not hiding. Postpartum boudoir sessions at Grace and Lace in Huntington Beach are about exactly that: helping you see your body with fresh eyes, at exactly the stage it's in right now.

Not the body you had before. Not the body you're working toward. This one. Today.

When is the right time?

Whenever you feel ready — and that looks different for everyone. Some moms book at six months postpartum, some at two years. There's no deadline. The only requirement is that you want to do something meaningful for yourself, and you're open to the possibility that you might be surprised by what you see.

We work with moms across Orange County — from Huntington Beach and Newport Beach to Irvine, Costa Mesa, and beyond — at every stage of motherhood.

What to expect at a postpartum session

You'll start with professional hair and makeup in our private Huntington Beach studio. That hour alone tends to shift something. When was the last time you sat still and let someone take care of you?

From there, Jeni guides every pose with your specific body in mind — what to highlight, how to position, how to find the angles that make you feel strong and beautiful rather than exposed. The all-female, private environment means you never have to worry about who's watching. It's just you, Jeni, and a space designed entirely around making you feel safe.

What moms say after their session

The word we hear most often isn't "sexy" or "beautiful" — though both come up. The word we hear most is "myself." As in: "I finally felt like myself again." That's what we're really here for.

A note on comparison

Social media will show you highlight reels of postpartum "snap-backs" and bodies that look nothing like yours. Please remember that those images are curated, filtered, and often surgically assisted. Your body — the one that fed and held and carried a whole new person — deserves its own kind of celebration. Not comparison. Celebration.
