Maternity & Postpartum Boudoir: Celebrating Every Stage of Motherhood
Pregnancy and postpartum are two of the most transformative seasons a woman will ever experience. Your body changes quickly, emotions run deep, and often, the way you see yourself shifts in ways you didn’t expect. It can feel beautiful, overwhelming, empowering, exhausting — sometimes all in the same day.
That’s exactly why maternity and postpartum boudoir sessions have become so meaningful for so many women.
Maternity Boudoir: Celebrating the Strength in Creating Life
There is something incredibly powerful about documenting your body while it’s growing life. During pregnancy, your body is doing extraordinary things every single day, even if you don’t always feel glamorous while it’s happening.
A maternity boudoir session is not about trying to look a certain way — it’s about honoring this chapter exactly as it is. The softness, the strength, the anticipation, the connection to the little life you’re carrying — all of it deserves to be remembered.
Many women come into a maternity session feeling unsure because their bodies don’t feel familiar right now. But by the end of the session, that uncertainty often shifts into pride. There is something powerful about seeing yourself through a different lens and realizing just how beautiful this season truly is.
Postpartum Boudoir: Reconnecting With Yourself Again
Postpartum can be one of the most emotional identity shifts a woman experiences. Your body may look different, feel different, and sometimes it takes time to feel like yourself again.
That is why postpartum boudoir can be incredibly healing.
These sessions are not about “bouncing back.” They are about recognizing that your body has already done something remarkable. The softness, the scars, the stretch marks, the changes — they all tell a story of strength, love, and survival.
For many women, postpartum boudoir becomes less about photos and more about reclaiming confidence. It creates space to pause and appreciate yourself in a season where so much energy is given to everyone else.
You Do Not Need to Wait to Feel Perfect
One of the most common things women say is, “Maybe I’ll book when I feel more like myself.”
The truth is, there is no perfect moment. Confidence usually does not come first — often, it comes after you allow yourself to step into something vulnerable.
A boudoir session can remind you that beauty is not tied to a certain size, stage, or timeline. It is already there, even if you haven’t fully felt it lately.
These Images Become More Meaningful Over Time
Years from now, these images often become more than photographs. They become proof of what your body carried, endured, and created.
For maternity clients, they preserve a chapter that passes faster than expected.
For postpartum clients, they often capture the beginning of finding yourself again.
Both deserve to be documented.
A Session Designed Around Comfort
Whether you are pregnant, newly postpartum, or somewhere in between, your session should feel comfortable, supportive, and completely tailored to where you are physically and emotionally.
That means breaks when needed, posing that flatters your body gently, and creating an environment where you never feel pressure to perform.
Because this experience is not about perfection — it is about presence.
You Are Allowed to Be Seen in This Season
Even in the middle of change.
Even if you feel uncertain.
Even if your body tells a different story than it did before.
Especially then.
Because this season deserves to be remembered, too

Why Orange County Women Are Choosing Boudoir Photography as Self-Care
Self-care has a lot of definitions these days. Face masks. Bubble baths. Saying no to plans you didn't want to go to anyway. All valid. All worthwhile.
And then there's boudoir photography — which is a different category of self-care entirely.
What Makes Boudoir Different
Most self-care is about restoration. You're depleted, so you rest. You're stressed, so you decompress. You're tired, so you sleep. All of that is necessary and good.
Boudoir isn't about restoration. It's about revelation. It's about discovering — or rediscovering — something about yourself that daily life has a way of quietly burying. The confidence. The beauty. The sense of being a woman who is seen and celebrated, not just needed and relied upon.
That's a different kind of care. And for a lot of women, it's the kind they've been missing.
Who Books a Boudoir Session Just for Themselves
More women than you might think. At Grace and Lace Boudoir in Huntington Beach, a significant number of clients come in with no special occasion and no intended recipient for their photos. They come in because they wanted to. Because they decided this was their year. Because something shifted and they were done waiting for permission to feel good about themselves.
These sessions are some of the most powerful ones we shoot. There's something about a woman who chose this purely for herself that comes through in every single image.
The Morning of Your Session
Think about what a Grace and Lace session morning actually looks like. You arrive at a private, all-female studio in Huntington Beach. You sit in a chair while a professional hair and makeup artist works on you for an hour — their full attention on making you look and feel incredible. You're not rushing. You're not taking care of anyone else. You are just being taken care of.
Then you spend three hours with a photographer whose entire focus is on finding every angle that makes you feel powerful and beautiful. Every pose is chosen for you. Every wardrobe change is guided. Every moment is designed around your comfort and confidence.
When was the last time an entire morning was completely, entirely about you?
The Photos Are Just the Beginning
Women often come in thinking the photos are the point. And the photos are extraordinary — heirloom quality images that most clients say are the best photographs ever taken of them.
But what lingers longer than the photos is the shift. The way you look at yourself differently in the mirror afterward. The way the voice that used to lead with criticism gets a little quieter. The way you carry yourself when you have proof — actual visual proof — that you are more beautiful than your inner critic has been telling you.
That's self-care with staying power. That's Grace and Lace.

Why more women are celebrating milestone birthdays with a boudoir session in Orange County
Turning 40. Turning 50. Turning 60. Society has a lot of confusing messages about what those milestones are supposed to mean for a woman. We think they mean one thing: you've earned something extraordinary. And we'd like to help you celebrate it that way.
Turning 40. Turning 50. Turning 60. Society has many confusing messages about what those milestones are supposed to mean for a woman. We think they mean one thing: you've earned something extraordinary. And we'd like to help you celebrate it that way.
The birthday gift that's actually about you
Most milestone birthday gifts are things — jewelry, trips, dinners. A boudoir session is an experience. It's an afternoon in a private Huntington Beach studio where the entire focus is on you feeling powerful, beautiful, and celebrated. You leave with photographs that capture you exactly as you are — not as you were, not as you think you should be. As you are, right now, at your most confident.
Why milestone birthdays in particular?
There's something that happens to women as they move through their 40s, 50s, and 60s. The self-consciousness that plagued their 20s and 30s starts to quiet. They care less about what people think and more about how they feel. That shift is powerful — and it makes for some of the most extraordinary boudoir sessions we shoot at Grace and Lace.
Women who've reached a milestone birthday often bring a groundedness and confidence to their session that newer clients are still working toward. The photos reflect it. Every time.
What your session includes
Every Grace and Lace session in our Huntington Beach studio includes professional hair and makeup, personalized styling guidance, and a private all-female environment. Jeni works with every body type and every age — posing is adjusted specifically for you, to highlight what you love and work beautifully with your shape.
We serve clients throughout Orange County, including Newport Beach, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, and the surrounding Southern California area.

Boudoir Photography as a Gift: The Complete Guide for Orange County Women
Some gifts are forgotten by February. A boudoir session at Grace and Lace Boudoir is not one of them.
Whether you're giving it to yourself or to someone you love, a boudoir session is one of the most personal, meaningful, and genuinely unforgettable gifts you can give. Here's everything you need to know about gifting boudoir photography in Orange County.
Gifting a Session to Your Partner
A custom boudoir album is one of the most intimate gifts a person can give. It requires courage, intention, and vulnerability — and the person receiving it knows that. This is not something ordered online at midnight. It is something that took planning, nerve, and love.
The most popular occasions for gifting a boudoir session to a partner include weddings, anniversaries, Valentine's Day, and milestone birthdays. But honestly? You don't need an occasion. Surprising a partner with a boudoir album on a random Tuesday is a story they'll be telling forever.
Gifting a Session to Someone You Love
Know a woman who deserves to feel celebrated? A Grace and Lace gift certificate is one of the most thoughtful things you can give.
It's perfect for:
The bride-to-be who deserves something meaningful before her wedding day
The new mom who needs a reminder of how incredible she is
The friend turning 40, 50, or 60 who deserves to mark it with something extraordinary
The woman who has been through something hard and needs to be reminded of her strength
The woman who would never do this for herself — but absolutely should
Gift certificates are available at Grace and Lace Boudoir. Reach out directly and we'll help you put together something special.
Gifting a Session to Yourself
This one deserves its own section because it's just as valid as any other reason — and often the hardest one for women to allow themselves.
You don't need a special occasion. You don't need to have just gone through something significant. You don't need permission from anyone. Wanting to feel beautiful, seen, and celebrated is enough of a reason on its own.
Some of the most powerful sessions we shoot at Grace and Lace are from women who simply decided that this year they were going to do something purely for themselves. No occasion. No recipient. Just them, choosing themselves for once.
That is a gift worth giving.
What the Experience Includes
Every Grace and Lace session includes professional hair and makeup, a three-hour private shoot with multiple wardrobe changes, expert posing guidance, and a personal viewing appointment where you'll see your images for the first time. The studio is private and all-female. Sessions are limited each month to ensure every client receives personalized attention.
How to Purchase a Gift Certificate

Why a boudoir session is the most meaningful wedding gift you can give yourself (or your partner)
You've spent months — maybe years — planning every detail of your wedding. The flowers, the venue, the dress, the cake. You've thought about everyone else's experience of your big day. Here's a question: what are you doing just for you?
A boudoir session is the answer more and more Orange County brides are discovering. And once you hear what it actually involves, it makes complete sense.
It's not what you think
When most women hear "boudoir photography," they picture something uncomfortable — posing awkwardly in lingerie for a camera. What they don't picture is laughing until their cheeks hurt, feeling genuinely gorgeous for the first time in years, and walking out of a studio in Huntington Beach holding images that make them cry in the best possible way.
That's what a Grace and Lace session actually is. It's confidence, bottled.
The gift your partner will never forget
A custom boudoir album presented on the morning of your wedding is one of the most intimate, personal gifts a bride can give. It's not something ordered online at the last minute. It required courage, vulnerability, and intention. Partners consistently say it's the most meaningful thing they've ever received.
We work with brides across Orange County — from Newport Beach to Irvine to Laguna Beach — and the reaction stories we hear after weddings never get old.
But really, it's a gift for you
Here's what we've noticed after years of working with brides at Grace and Lace: the album is wonderful, but the session itself is what changes something. There's a version of you that exists before your wedding — before you become a wife, before the whirlwind, before everything shifts. A boudoir session captures her. Celebrates her. Tells her she was always enough.
Many of our clients tell us their session was one of the few moments in the entire engagement period that was purely, completely theirs.
What bridal boudoir looks like at Grace and Lace
Every bridal session at our Huntington Beach studio includes professional hair and makeup, a private all-female environment, and Jeni's expert posing guidance from start to finish. You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to have a "boudoir body." You just need to show up — we handle the rest.
Sessions are limited each month, so brides typically book two to four months before their wedding date to ensure availability.
Not just for brides
Know someone celebrating an anniversary, a milestone birthday, or a major life chapter? Boudoir sessions make extraordinary gifts for any woman who deserves to feel celebrated — which is every woman. Gift certificates are available.

How Much Does Boudoir Photography Cost in Orange County?
It's one of the first questions women ask — and it's a completely fair one. Before you invest in any experience, you want to know what you're getting into. So let's talk about boudoir photography pricing in Orange County honestly and clearly.
The Short Answer
At Grace and Lace Boudoir in Huntington Beach, sessions start with a Creation Fee of $349. This is what secures your date and covers the core experience. Products — albums, wall art, digital files — are purchased separately during your personal viewing session after the shoot, with no minimum purchase required. Prices for products begin at $699
What the Creation Fee Covers
A lot of women are surprised by how much is packed into the session fee. Here's exactly what's included:
Professional hair and makeup — a full glam session with a skilled artist right in our Huntington Beach studio before your shoot begins
A three-hour private session with multiple wardrobe changes
Expert posing guidance from start to finish — you never have to wonder what to do
Full retouching of all your images
A personal viewing and ordering appointment where you'll see your photos for the first time and choose your favorites
This is not a shoot-and-send situation. It's a full luxury experience from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave with images you love.
What About Products?
After your session you'll have a private reveal appointment where you see your images for the first time. This is one of the most memorable parts of the whole experience — many clients describe it as genuinely emotional.
From there you choose which images you want to keep and in what format. Options typically include:
Digital files — high resolution images delivered for you to keep and print
Printed albums — heirloom quality books that make extraordinary keepsakes or gifts
Wall art — statement pieces for your home
Print collections — sets of prints in various sizes
There is no minimum purchase. You only buy what you genuinely love. Flexible payment plans are also available through the studio and PayPal Credit.
How Does This Compare to Other Orange County Studios?
Boudoir photography pricing in Orange County varies widely. Some studios charge lower session fees but make up for it with high product minimums that can push the total to $1,500 or more regardless of what you actually want. Others charge premium rates upfront with no flexibility.
At Grace and Lace the philosophy is different. The Creation Fee covers a complete luxury experience, and everything after that is entirely your choice. You're never pressured to spend more than you want to.
Is Boudoir Photography Worth the Investment?
Here's what we know after 12 years of photographing women across Orange County: almost every single client says yes. Not because of the photos themselves — though those are extraordinary — but because of what the experience does for how a woman sees herself.
That shift in confidence, the moment you see your images for the first time and realize you've been too hard on yourself all along — there's no price tag for that. The photos are just the beautiful proof it happened.

Boudoir Photography for Every Body: Why There's No Such Thing as a Boudoir Body
If you've ever looked at boudoir photos online and thought "that's not for someone who looks like me" — this post is for you.
It's one of the most common things women say before booking a session at Grace and Lace Boudoir. And it's one of the most common things they laugh about afterward. Because here's the truth: the women in those photos? They thought the exact same thing before they showed up.
The Myth of the Boudoir Body
Somewhere along the way, boudoir photography got associated with a very specific body type. Tall, thin, conventionally perfect. And while those women absolutely deserve to feel celebrated too, they are not the only women boudoir is for.
Boudoir photography is for the woman who has spent years at war with her body. It's for the mom whose stomach looks different after growing two humans. It's for the woman who turned 55 and decided this was her year. It's for the woman who just went through something hard and needs to be reminded of her strength. It's for every single woman who has ever looked in the mirror and seen her flaws before she saw her beauty.
That's who Grace and Lace Boudoir was built for.
What Posing Actually Does
One of the most powerful tools in a boudoir session isn't the lighting or the lingerie — it's the posing. And this is where 12 years of experience makes an enormous difference.
Jeni has spent over a decade learning exactly how to position every body type to highlight what's beautiful and create images that feel powerful rather than exposing. Small adjustments in angle, posture, and position can completely transform how someone looks and feels in a photo. This is why clients who came in convinced they'd hate every image consistently leave obsessed with their photos.
You don't need to know how to pose. You don't need to practice in the mirror beforehand. You just need to trust the process — and Jeni will take care of the rest.
What Our Clients Say
Women who have never felt comfortable in photos tell us they couldn't stop staring at their images. Women who spent decades hiding from cameras tell us they finally understand what their partners have been seeing all along. Women who came in nervous and self-conscious walk out feeling like an entirely different version of themselves.
This happens at every size. At every age. At every stage of life.
No Filters. No Deception.
At Grace and Lace, retouching is about enhancing the photo — the lighting, the tones, the overall feel. It is not about changing who you are. We don't slim waists or alter body shapes. What you see in your images is you — genuinely, beautifully you — seen through a skilled eye that knows exactly how to find the best in every woman.
Ready to Prove Yourself Wrong?
If part of you is already arguing with this post — if a voice is saying "but you haven't seen my body" — we'd like to invite you to book a session and let us prove that voice wrong.
Grace and Lace Boudoir is a private, all-female studio in Huntington Beach serving women throughout Orange County including Newport Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, and all of Southern California. Sessions are limited each month. Contact us today to check availability.
How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Session: The Complete Guide for Orange County Women
You booked your session. Now what?
First — take a breath. You made a great decision. Now let's make sure you show up feeling as confident and prepared as possible, because the more at ease you feel walking in, the more extraordinary your photos will be.
Here's everything you need to know to prepare for your Grace and Lace boudoir session in Huntington Beach.
The Week Before Your Session
Stay hydrated. This one sounds simple but it makes a visible difference. Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your session keeps your skin looking its best — glowy, healthy, and camera-ready.
Moisturize daily. Start applying lotion to your whole body every day, especially areas like your legs, arms, and stomach. Hydrated skin photographs beautifully. Dry skin does not.
Avoid spray tans. If you want a tan, get it done at least a week before your session so it has time to settle and even out. Fresh spray tans can look patchy in photos. Your natural skin tone is always stunning — don't feel like you need to change it.
Avoid trying new skincare. Now is not the time to test a new retinol or exfoliating treatment. Stick to your normal routine to avoid any unexpected reactions on your skin before your session.
Plan your wardrobe. You'll receive a detailed welcome guide when you book, but start thinking about what you want to bring. Think about pieces that make you feel like yourself — whether that's classic lingerie, a cozy oversized sweater, a silky robe, or something that has sentimental meaning to you.
The Night Before
Get a good night's sleep. This affects everything — your energy, your eyes, your mood. Try to get at least seven to eight hours.
Do a light shave or wax if needed. If you plan to shave your legs or anywhere else, do it the night before rather than the morning of. This gives any redness or irritation time to settle before your session.
Lay out everything you're bringing. Lingerie, heels, jewelry, any special pieces. Doing this the night before means you won't be rushing the morning of and accidentally forgetting something you wanted.
Avoid alcohol. A glass of wine might sound like a good way to calm nerves but it can cause puffiness, especially in the face, and affect your energy during the shoot. Save the celebratory drink for after.
The Morning Of
Eat a real meal. Don't skip breakfast trying to look thinner. It doesn't work that way in photos, and it will affect your energy and mood during a three-hour session. Eat something nourishing that makes you feel good.
Skip heavy perfume or body lotion right before. Strong scents can interfere with the makeup application, and heavy lotion can affect how makeup sits on your skin. Arrive clean and let our hair and makeup artist work their magic.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your session. Avoid anything with tight waistbands or straps that will leave marks on your skin. A loose dress or sweats are perfect.
Give yourself plenty of drive time. Nothing derails a session faster than arriving stressed from traffic. Plan to arrive a few minutes early, take a breath in the car, and walk in ready to enjoy your day.
What to Bring
4 to 6 lingerie or outfit options
Heels or footwear you love — but not necessary
Any jewelry or accessories that feel like you
Any sentimental pieces you want incorporated — a partner's shirt, a piece of jewelry with meaning
What NOT to Bring
Stress about how you look
Comparison to anyone else
The idea that you need to look a certain way to deserve this
You already deserve this. You already are enough. Our job at Grace and Lace Boudoir is simply to show you the proof.
Grace and Lace Boudoir is located in Huntington Beach and serves women throughout Orange County including Newport Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Laguna Beach. Professional hair and makeup is included with every session. Ready to book? Contact us today or visit our calendar to check availability.
